N.B. 1990 statistics from Statistics Netherlands calculation; other years from LEI calculation. The figures for energy consumption do not include agricultural machinery (mobile or stationary).

Changes in energy consumption

Most energy goes into heating greenhouses in the horticulture sector. The weather - temperature and sunshine - is the main factor determining energy consumption. There have been hardly any observable changes in other consumption, such as heating for animal accommodation, lighting and machines.
