Traffic performance of motor vehicles in the Netherlands, 1980-2002
The number of vehicle kilometres continues to increase annually. Passenger cars drive more than 100 billion kilometres.

Car use increasing
Since 1980, the total number of vehicle kilometres (traffic performance) travelled by passenger cars has increased by almost 70% to more than 101 billion kilometres. The traffic performance of delivery vans was more than 18 billion kilometres in 2002, more than four times as many passenger kilometres as in 1980. Heavy goods vehicles travelled approximately 8 billion kilometres in the Netherlands in 2002. This is 35% more than in 1980.
