NAMEA: contributions by Dutch consumers and producers to environmental themes, 2002
Producers contribute most to the environmental themes of Climate Change, Acidification, Eutrophication and Waste.
Environmental pressure generated by consumers and producers
Producers contribute more to environmental pressure than consumers. This applies to the themes of Climate Change (Greenhouse Effect), Acidification and Eutrophication, as well as to Waste. The category 'other' includes the environmental pressure of landfill sites and transport differences.
Technical note
The allocation of contributions from consumers and producers deviates in two respects from the government's target sector policy. The emissions from transport are allocated to the specific economic activities and consumers, meaning that there is no longer a separate Traffic and Transport target sector.
The emissions from Dutch people living abroad are also included. To give an example: in 2001, CO2 emissions from Dutch people living abroad were 13% of the total emissions originating in the Netherlands. 42% of the CO2 emissions from Dutch transport were generated abroad.
