NAMEA: contributions of Dutch economic activities to environmental themes and gross added value, 2002
Agriculture and horticulture contribute most to acidification and eutrophication; energy supply contributes most to the greenhouse effect.

Emissions and environmental themes: the role of producers
The table shows that agriculture is, relatively speaking, an environmentally intensive sector which makes a limited contribution to the added value. The reverse is true for the service industries. Together, these sectors generate most added value in exchange for relatively low environmental pressure. The transport sectors (transport by land, water and by air), which together generate 4.6% of Dutch added value, account for 14.8% of CO2 emissions by Dutch residents.
Note
The table compares the contributions by different economic activities to a number of environmental themes. The percentage share of businesses in the total production of emissions is compared to the shares in added value. Environmental services make a negative contribution to the themes of Waste Disposal and Eutrophication. This is because this table shows the net emissions per category, in other words the emissions after cleaning.
