Environmental annual reports in the Netherlands required by the Environmental Management Act, 2001
Since 1 January 2001, a number of companies have been obliged to submit environmental annual reports every year to the competent authorities. This obligation has been laid down in the Environmental Reporting (Environmental Management) Decree.

Position with respect to environmental annual reports in 2001
In 2001, 249 environmental annual reports were submitted. This is more than in 2000, when 241 environmental annual reports were submitted. Of all the companies required to submit environmental annual reports in 2001 pursuant to the Environmental Reporting Decree, 90% had done so. This is fewer than in 2000 (96%).
The number of environmental annual reports submitted by the chemical industry is larger than the number of companies required to submit reports. The reason is that a number of chemical companies have submitted environmental annual reports voluntarily.
Policy
