Concentrations of heavy metals per measuring station, 1990-2002

Measurements of heavy metals in air
In the Netherlands, metal concentrations in air are measured at four locations in the National Air Quality Measurement Network: Houtakker (North Brabant), Vlaardingen (South Holland), Bilthoven (Utrecht) and Kollumerwaard (Groningen).
Differences within the Netherlands
As a rule, the concentrations of heavy metals in air decline as one moves from the South to the North of the Netherlands. The differences in the concentrations between the North and the South are getting smaller. This is most apparent in the case of lead.
