Composition of the Trade, services and government target sector
The Trade, services and government target sector comprises all activities aimed at providing goods and services to users. The activities are conducted in a range of sectors such as wholesale and retail, hotel and catering, research, education, government and financial institutions, transport companies and the health care and welfare sector (SIC codes 50 through 99, with the exception of 9000 (Environmental services)). Environmental pressure from the Trade, services and government target sector
The direct environmental pressure comes mainly from waste produced by offices, shops and services and from the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to the air. Energy use by this target sector is substantial (almost 8% of total energy use).
