Guide to fish resources

Fish is a renewable resource which has been caught for food since time immemorial. The sharp increase in the intensity of fishing over recent decades constitutes a threat to the continuance of a number of commercial fish species. As a result of the by-catch of large numbers of other sea animals and the churning up of the seabed by trawling, the fishing industry has also had a harmful impact on other parts of the ecosystem.
