Guide to the 'Environmental pressure by theme' section

This section discusses emissions by environmental theme, where possible assessed against prevailing policy objectives. In the first National Environmental Policy Plan (VROM, 1989), the government of the time set out the theme-based environment policy. An environmental theme is the common denominator of a set of closely linked problems such as climate change, acidification and eutrophication.

Desiccation and disturbance

The familiar themes of Desiccation and Disturbance (noise and odour) are missing from this section.
  • The extraction of water is covered under 'societal developments' in the resources section. The level of desiccation in nature is a component of the environmental quality - desiccation section. The desiccation dossier contains an overview of all information about desiccation.
  • Almost all the indicators about noise and odour nuisance (Disturbance theme) provide a description of the situation. They have therefore been included in the environmental quality - living environment section. You can also find them in the Disturbance dossier.

Source of emission data

The information in the report 'Emissies en afval in Nederland; jaarrapport 2000 en ramingen 2001' (CCDM, 2002) is a major source of the presented emission data.
