Guide to 'Particulate air pollution' section
Particulate air pollution includes particulate matter (PM10), benzo[a]pyrene and heavy metals. Excessive levels of these substances in air are a threat to public health. The concentrations of particulate matter exceed the 24-hour average standard in large sections of the Netherlands.
