Guidance Reintroductions of species

Index section Reintroductions of species

Introduction

Some species that have disappeared from the Netherlands are unable to reach the country again, or need a very long time to do so if unassisted. For this reason imported specimens of certain butterfly species have been reintroduced, in the hope that they will re-establish. Other reintroductions are the raven, the Eurasian beaver and, more recently, the otter.
