Introduction

Nature supplies us with products such as timber and fish that are marketable and that are assigned a price on the market. We can also make use of nature in various other ways, for example for recreation. This section deals with recreation in forests/woodland and nature areas, and with forestry and fishing. (Another way of using nature, namely for hunting, is nowadays of little importance.)

Involvement and organisations

We show that we are involved with nature and the landscape in the opinions we express about them, the support we give to nature conservation organisations and the voluntary efforts we make in support of nature management. This section presents a number of indicators of the public support in the Netherlands for the natural environment. It also deals with organisations that manage land and "agrarian nature conservation organisations".
